Age is but a Number

It still catches me off guard when I think about how old I am. I will be turning thirty-six in January. When I was in high school, I’d imagined my life to be so different than what it is today.

Overcultures have been dictating the way one is supposed to be when they reach a certain age bracket. From what they are supposed to have established to their marital status and number of children to how they are supposed to look.

On that note, I find 85 year-old model Carmen Dell Orefice’s code of living, style and defiance over the stereotype of aging so inspirational…

In the end, age is just a number. What really matters is how youthful or worn out your spirit is. How cynical or hopeful your outlook is. How well you respect the flow of life and trust that everything has its own time.

There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age. – sophıa lauren
