The autumn leaves have mostly fallen as the strong wind began to bite with increasing appetite. The sweaters are out, sandals are back in their boxes. Bottles of rosé turn red and mojito temporarily loses its appeal. What replaces it, for me, is Hot Toddy.
I used to often drink this Scottish cocktail on freezing cold New York nights, but it seems like the trend has not traveled this far. It’s a wonderfully soothing drink that would be the perfect night cap after a nice hearty meal or during a leisurely time next to a fireplace/book/record player. Originating from 17th century, what makes it really special though, is that it is believed to be a curing aid to flu. I don’t know if it’s the placebo effect or the sweetness of alcohol, but it works like a charm, every single time.
So my dear friends, here is the recipe. It really is so very simply. Enjoy, stay warm and out of trouble!
